Please note, this course is being taught at the 4th Floor Workspace in the Midtown Five building located at 125 NE 32nd St. Miami, FL 33137.

Fashion Portfolio Development is an introductory course into all things fashion design. It is perfect for people who are thinking of applying to a design school that requires a portfolio interview or for those who just want to learn more about fashion in general. The course is a total of 32 hours divided into 2 hour classes. Students will be given a set of 4 Prismacolor markers, a watercolor palate, a brush tip marker, and a protective binder in which to keep their sketches. At the end of their course, students will also be given a bound and printed copy of their sketches and inspiration board along with the digital files.

This course is for the student’s own personal development. It focuses on women’s fashion design.

This course covers four key aspects of fashion design (Fashion Illustration, Fabric Print Design, Pattern Development, Garment Construction) culminating in an impressive portfolio and a completed garment.

Description

Fashion Portfolio Development Syllabus: This course is for the student’s own personal development. It focuses on women’s fashion design. This course covers four key aspects of fashion design (Fashion Illustration, Fabric Print Design, Pattern Development, Garment Construction) culminating in an impressive portfolio and a completed garment.

Fashion Illustration: In class sketching and demonstrations, Painting and coloration techniques, Croqui (Fashion Figure) development, Drawing Faces
Final Assignment: One complete collection (9-10 designs), inspiration page, color palate, title page

Fabric Print Design: Final Assignment: Develop 2 fabric samples (one abstract and one nature-inspired) and three designs to accompany each sample.

Pattern Development: Each student will learn the basics of pattern development. Final Assignment: Design an outfit (top and bottom or dress), Develop a pattern for this outfit.

Basic Construction: Students will use their pattern that they have made to construct their garment for their final assignment.

Muslin is provided, but students are responsible for choosing and purchasing the fabric and notions for their final garment.

Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in these intervals:
12:00pm-2:00pm
2:00pm-4:00pm
4:00pm-6:00pm
6:00pm-8:00pm
There are limited spots available per time slot. This course is a total of 16 lessons.
